Oh No - I Think it's a Hernia......

Hello Everyone:  Long time No Post! Summer has come and gone and I've spent very little time on the Boards but I think I need a little help from the group. As some of you know, I had my RNY back in December of 2006.  I have been working out (Body Pump) in addition to walking.  I have noticed a bunch on the left side of my incision and didn't think much of it - kinda thought maybe I had finally found a muscle :) You know, part of that lost "6-Pack" they all say you have!  Well anyways, over the past 2 weeks I had a nasty chest cold and one night while I was coughing in bed, lying on my back, it popped out!  Ooops.....  Never had a Hernia, so I couldn't tell you if it really is but guess I'm going back to see my surgeon before my 1 year anniversary.  Guess Body Pump is on hold until after I visit him.

I'm looking on the bright side "maybe I'll be getting a FREE Tummy Tuck!" Hugs & Best Wishes to you All..... Peggy

I haven't had my surgery yet, but ... the "popping out" sounds like maybe it is one.  You are right to go back to the surgeon ... I'm sure they'll fix you right up and you'll be back to your exercising, etc. soon. All the best to you -- LisaD

Yes, it sure does sound like a hernia Peggy, but as you say you need to touch base with the doc about it. I think hernia's are a gastric bypass patient's friend, because of the tummy tuck issue. So think tummy tuck!!!

How are you doing otherwise? How much have you lost? How are you feeling with food? Any intolerances?

Nice to hear from you even though you've got popping news!!

I know, I'm thinking Tummy tuck as well but I was hoping to wait until after the Holidays for that and I'm almost certain it's a hernia.  I really hate the thought of having to wait until after the first of the year to go  back to Body Pump.  I feel so much healthier when I'm going to class. Otherwise, I'm fine.  I can tolerate just about anything.   I don't dump on sugar.  I'm down about 85 lbs. and I wi**** was a more but Dr. Alger says I may be losing slower but because I'm doing Body Pump I've created more muscle and I will continue to lose longer that way.  I'm going to try your South Beach idea starting next week.   I just came back from a cruise with my YaYa Sisters.   There ended up being 13 of us.  What a great time.

Did you end up hosting any of the Support Group Meetings?  If so, which ones are you doing?  I would come down if you were hosting.  Seems like the Support Group Meetings have kind of hit the skids since Ilana left. Give me a call sometime. Hugs Peggy

Hey Sweetie,
I'm glad to hear you're doing ok otherwise. 85 pounds is awesome! How long's it been? You go girl!

Right now AMC only has me running the Lap band support group and the 1 year out support group. Are you one year out yet? It's the 2nd Mon of the month from 6:30-8pm, this month because of Columbus day it's on the 15th. Come if you can!

Hugs and kisses,
Amy
