Topic: RE: Supplements....is it covered by Tricare?
My PCM gave me an rx for a mutli-vit (apparently an over the counter one, centrium) when I went to get it filled the pharmacy called Tricare and they told them they wouldn't cover an over the counter multi-vit. But I'm sure if I had my PCP write me up for a prenatal or something, that Tricare would cover. I'll have to see about that!
Thanks for responding!

Hi Andrea, I get my chewable multi vitamins on base at the hospital pharmacy. They offer them through the over the counter program. My PCM didn't know it till I told him. It helps to have a pharmacy tec living next door. lol

Topic: A little frustrated
You know, I waited about a month to have my initial consultation. I was called 2 hours before my appointment yesterday by the unit secretary and told that the Dr had cancelled his clinic for that day...so, my appt was cancelled. Supposedly, they are going to try to fit me in next week....we'll see........

Wha! That's crazy that your PCM has told you that multi-vits are not covered. I've gotten many meds that are over the counter via scrip....Tylenol, Multi-vitamins (when I was pregnant though...not right now), calcium, childrens tylenol. I saw that you asked your pharmacy, but you have to go through your PCM (not sure if it was a typo or not). All they have to do is put it in the computer and you can pick it up

Do you have an RX for a mulitvitamin? I've gotten rx's for certain vitamins (D before surgery and potassium most resently) but was told by my pharm that Tricare wouldn't cover the multi because it is over the counter.
If you are getting your multi paid with Tricare and it is chewable, let me know what it is called, and I'll make sure my pcp rx's me that multi vit.
Thanks!!

Hey it's great to have you on the board! Tricare I believe is one of te quickest insurance companies there are. I had the lap RNY and I love it. For me, I needed somthing that was more permenant, so even if Tricare did offer the lap band I still would have chosen the RNY. Plus, I didn't feel to great about the idea of having a foreign object in my body. As far as the not smoking.....I used suckers. For me, my addiction was more of a "hand to mouth" fixation, so i just ate suckers like they were going out of style until eventually I quit all together. After about a month or so of not having one, if you try another, more that likely it will taste awful and make you not want to have any more. At least that was the case with me. Good luck with everything and welcome to the board.

All you have to do is have the need for them and your PCM can put the prescription in for you. Sometimes people have to have B12 shots instead of the tabs after WLS. That is just one example of the vitamins that you can get. Just call your PCM, and they can do a scrp for you
