Walking with Weights....

All I have heard is that it does burn quite a few more calories and that it probably adds some core and balance training to the mix.
A fitness professor at Virginia Commonwealth University researched heavy hands years ago. His name is Wajiehowsky (sp?). According to him it was better than either walking or jogging, but you are not supposed to go over 1-2 lbs or so of weight, because this might cause a repetitive stress injury.

Great motivation for Dad to keep walking!
I used 2.5lb then 5lb ankle weights for about 2 years.
They made “Normal Walking” and then running, feel like I could fly!
I would sometimes just keep them on under my pants legs
For the majority of the day.
Every little bit helps!
