"Out With The Old (Underwear)"

I was picking things up around the condo yesterday when I came across my old laundry basket where I keep all my underwear (like in any good bachelor pad)  ..  I had recently "downgraded" to size XL BVDs (no more 2-4X) and to much smaller t-shirts ..  I finally decided to go through the basket and gather up all the old size underwear and throw them out ..  So out came a big plastic trash bag and to the trash dumpster they all went ..   I guess just call it "Phase 1" of my clothing remodeling plan!    &:-D)   (btw, I had briefly considered saving some of the old trunks to use to wax the car with, but then realized how embarrassing that might look at the local car wash!)

I finally broke down and went to my favorite Big and Tall Men's store and got 8 pair of men's underwear (5X) on Fri night.  They were having a huge sale and everything in the store was 20% off.  So, I got 2 pairs of jogging pants also.  The salesman, Fran, who I've been dealing with for years could immediately see how much weigh I'd lost but he was concerned about the size of my right thigh.  This store is out of my way which is why I don't go there often.  But, the salesmen are the nicest guys in the world and always treat their customers with care and respect.  I suspect i'll be going there for a long time.  They are also a favored men's store for fine men's clothing in the local area.

Dang .. that reminds me, Bob ..  I have 2 pair of very large jogging pants that the bosses at work bought for me but I never used (I guess they were hoping to "inspire" me), from back in my pre-op days ..  I need to give those to a good home ...

As to the thigh thing, keep in mind that, as LEers, as our body weight goes down, the LE-affected limbs generally do not  decrease in size correspondingly (if not doing compressions or MLDT).  This basically gives the ilusion that the LE-affected limbs are even bigger, in relation to the rest of the body, with the greater weight loss   ...  That's probably what the salesman was "seeing" ..

I'm not gonna have to buy very much clothing as I go down. You know every fat guy has a closet full of smaller clothes that he's gonna get back into "one of these days". I am however gonna have to buy some new underwear. I'm trying to hold off as long as I can. I want as few of transitions as possible. These Hanes 52's that I'm wearing right now are in sad shape. Waste band pulling away from the rest of the short where I've tried to pull them up over that fat ass all these years. Skid marks partially washed away.

i started at 52" also! seems like a long time ago. i was just going through old stuff and realized all my shirts and jackets were smalls. now i look like i belong on an MTV 80's video! i did keep some cool stuff that still looks relevent but not much else. i got a gift cert for the holidays at macy's. i'm going to have to get some modern dress clothes. i never held onto skinny pants but do have a lot of shirts i kept. wait until you're a few months past losing because you might bounce back some. i did. now i have to diet to get into my 32's again. what a drag.

Although I am Pre Op I to have gone through my clothes.  I have packed away all of the sixe 60 and 58 pants for the last time (I HOPE).  It was a great feeling to know that I no longer need them.  I am now in a size 56 and hoping to be in a 54 in about a month.

Dang, rather than pack them away, why not donate them to a needy plus size guy?

I recently gave away my size 62 wool dress suit and new dress shirt I never wore to a friend on here ..   &;-)

Come to think of it, I have a bunch of long-sleeved dress shirts (worn many times, but no holes or rips in them) with around a 20-21" neck ..  and some pull over pocket ts and "bowling shirt" type shirts  4X ...  (some are pretty faded or have some tiny holes in them) ..  If anyone could use them, let me know and we'll figure out some way to them to you ..  Otherwise I'll just be throwing them out (or giving to Good Will)

Update on the clothes.  One of the guys in the office is getting them.  I just wish that he would look into WLS.  He is a good guy and getting bigger year after year.  I use to be bigger than him, and now he is bigger than me.
