episode with a pill
Last night was my first night home from the hospital and I use some meds for restless leg syndrome. In the hospital I had a good friend named morphine connected to me thru an iv so I did not have any leg issues. Anyway, I took my pill, which I thought would be small enough. About 15 to 20 minutes later I get very nauseous and feel like I am going to throw up. I get up and head to the bath room where I proceed to heave 5 or 6 times. Also sweat is starting to pour off me. I feel like it is 200 degrees int he bathroom. I felt horrible. I threw up some red foamy looking stuff. The pill was red in color. I was reallyscared for awhile and then I went back to bed and all seems ok now. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Absolutely call your bariatric surgeon - don't take any advice from any of us - you don't want to risk harm to your pouch and stoma, especially so soon after surgery when things have barely had a chance to heal...They should be able to give you an option like crushing it up and putting it in a liquid or something soft like yogurt or applesauce - but don't assume, call first! Good luck bro!
Steve, Early on when the pouch is still swollen from surgery You may need to take meds either by crushing them or using them in liquid form. Call your doc and have him call in a prescription That you can take. Many docs put their patients on Liquid versions of meds For the first month post-op. It’s pretty common. Hang in there. The first weeks after the surgery SUK for most everyone. It does get easier. Best Wishes- Dx
