Just home from the hospital
Hey guys! I just got home this morning from my lap RNY. Everything seemed to go well. I have not gooten sick yet but all that I have had is a little broth and jello at the hospital. Later today my try some pudding!!! Anyways, I am on the losing side now and I look forward to the rest of my life,
Steve
Wow, Congrats, Steve!
I know how nice it is to be home. Hope things go smoothly for you. A couple of things which helped me in the first few days were: Gas X quick disolve strips -- took 2 every 4 to 6 hours; take your painkiller on schedule IF you feel you need it. Mine was so yucky, and pain minimal, that I switched to liquid tylenol the next day, which controlled the pain. Use a heating pad on low or medium on your lower back when you're sleeping or resting -- helps you to regulate your body temp, I had a low post-op fever with chills and shaking, and helps with a sore back. Try to walk every few hours. Cold things tasted best to me, so be sure to keep popsicles and fudgesicles on hand if you like them.
The weight's going to start rolling off of you now. I lost 17 lbs or surgical water weight in the first week, and now am down 21 lbs of real weight, for a total of 38 lbs lost since the day I came home. I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow.
