Ah, I've found my OH home!
Hi, guys.
I'm new to this forum, having been unaware of it for some time. Now, among fellow XY-chromosominians, I feel more at home.
I look forward to interacting as I await my WLS consultation with my surgeon on Feb. 4, and through the operation, recovery and beyond.
One thing I'm interested in is if weights/exercise can help reduce the loose skin problem I've read about, once a lot of the weight is off?
One last thing. . . like a lot of people, I suppose, I'm blogging on this journey, if anyone is interested:

Same way I felt when I stumbled upon this, the Locker Room.
Welcome!

Welcome to the bench. Glad you found us. My unscientific opinion of the loose skin issue is yes, I do think exercise and strengh training helps. I've seen areas on me tighten up after seeming more loose a while back. If that makes any sense. Also your age, the younger the better, how much weight you need to loose and the really biggie is not ever having smoked. Best wishes on your new adventure.

Welcome aboard! About loose skin, I'm only a month or so out (and 50#sdown) so I don't have a clue about myself yet, but I was at the WLS support group Tuesday night and the subject came up. Two guys, both 4+ years post-op, and both starting over 400#, described completely opposite results. The older man had surgery when he was 68 and he's now 70. He's fit as a fiddle. Said he exercises like mad and drinks tons of water and hasn't any loose skin at all. The other guy is a young man just preparing for med school. He has had the whole course of plastic surgery for loose skin everywhere. He also exercises and does things right. So, go figure!
The only thing I know definatively is that the elasticity of the skin is influenced majorly by three factors: alcohol use, nicotene use and age. You can do something about the first two. If you come up with a solution to the third one, back-channel me and we'll get rich together!
Glad your with us on this journey!
