OT - Quick Poll - BCS yeah or neah?
After watching all but one of the BCS games this year wind up rather lopsided, do you feel:
A. BCS is horrible, college football needs a playoff like every other sport
B. Go to the proposed "and one" format where the top four teams would face off and the winners would play in a title game
C. Nothing Should change, the BCS is a good system, and besides it's why each regular season game is so great.
D. None of the above or other.
My vote, B because it is plausible since the bowls will still be played, and a regular season loss could still be the kiss of death. As much as I hate USC, I would really have loved to see them or Georgia or even W Virginia have a shot at it...
I do not care for the BCS but any other system would be too bias. Most of the games were lopsided this year. I do not feel that there should not be a playoff system because college is for learning and a playoff system would wave money around and the focus would be to heavy towards winning money vs. education. I went to the University of Florida and I am sure it is like most BCS conference schools. A lot of money is brought in by the football program and spent, primarily, in that area. If UF did not receive as much for being a research school I am sure the spending would seem even more lopsided.
I also think that man should paly a part in where the BCS Championship is played. It should always be played at a neutral site so that neither team has a home team advantage.

If division 2 can have a playoff and not impact academics why can't division 1? 16 team play off would be great. It would quickly weed out the pretenders from weak conference's. Or should we just have a committee to decide who should play the winner of the SEC championship game to decide the National champ.

pps Still can't believe we lost to LSU on a freaking last second td pass.

WE NEED a playoff system after this season more than ever. you look at how USC, Mizzou and Hawaii did in their bowl games and it clear how badly those teams were paired up.
go top 8 to include more teams and in theory more parts of the country. It takes an additional 2 weeks so you lose one regular season game, its the only fair answer unless of course you're the # 9 team

I'll just say this:
LSU/Georgia would be one heck of a game!
(I think, at the very least, we could do a plus-1 system)
I pick option A. I went to Rutgers and it's been fun seeing them getting better even though they don't stand a chance with the big boys. My brother is a professor there and is not a sports fan. He can't understand why the State of NJ is willing to pump money into the RU football program and already is planning on expanding their stadium. He says that NJ has the pro teams in the Meadowlands and I say don't dare say that in S Jersey.
I see State football as a unifying force within the State. Yeah, it has nothing to do with research money nor upkeep of the facilities. But, it makes each State's citizens proud of their team. I know that there are many universities who have their own legion of fans. But, I continue to point out to my brother that Rutgers is the State U of NJ even though RU tends to delete the NJ name from their various logos.
