Bought running shoes, who would have thunk it?
Sorry to ask a dumb question but just want to be sure. I am now below 200 lbs (down just about 150). I've never been able to run. I've been thinking about it. I work out about 3 days a week with 30-45 minutes elliptical followed by 1 hr with a personal trainer. I do some walking in addition.
Everyone says that the proper shoes make all the difference. What kind of store do you go to? I'm worried about mall shops and the actual knowledge there. I want to make sure I really get fitted correctly.
Any suggestions? I live up in Milford CT.
Thanks,
Brian
I am no expert if I just happened to pick up their card at the gym I would have never known about them. I did a search under shoes in Milford, CT on www.anywho.com and came up with this.

Sounds promising. If not I would try a sporting goods store. I tried Dicks Sporting Goods at my local mall and the guy there at least knew there were different types of shoes according to what my foot needed. Look in your local phone book yellow pages or if you know some one that is a runner they might be able to point you in the right direction. pan head

I swear by these shoes, BJ!
Asics Gel Nimbus. As of September 2007 the current model was the 9.
Not me that's for sure. There is a small lake in a park near where I live that has a walking track around it, measures 5/8 of a mile. I have gone there to walk, but there are no lights so by the time I go to work out it is dark so I go to the gym. There is also a running/walking path in the town where I work. Now that the days are getting longer I may get a chance to try one of those before to long. .

Asics Gel Nimbus. Greatest Running Shoes....EVER!
The current incarnation, which I have, are the 9's.
And make sure you change every 500 miles!
And good socks! I have some great Under Armour ones that really wick the moisture.
Again, Asics Gel Nimbus. Greatest Running Shoes....EVER!
