Running Options

I have been running for a couple of months now and want to begain training for a Marathon in the future. I know that I should do in get special running shoes but I have a question for you guys first. I have a pair of Nike plus shoes right now. So I can plug a thing into my i-pod and it tell me how far I ran and the time. If I get a new pair of shoes I won't have this option, are there other things on the market that do this? Also I run 4 miles at a time now and my feet never hurt, should I get new shoes?

The old adage is 6-months or 500 miles (which ever comes first) MAX for shoes if they stay dry and in good shape. If the suffer a little more wear and tear, you'll probably have to replace sooner.

I am still on the heavy side so I try to get new shoes every 4 months.  That is about 300 miles of me.  I believe that Nike is the only shoe company with the Ipod option but I am not sure of that.

Check out the Garmin Forerunners (201, 205, 301, 305) - GPS systems for exercising (running, cycling).  They are (largish) wris****ches thay will tell you distance, pace, elevation and a whole lot more.
