Eatin Good At Steak & Ale - Prime Rib Special
To celebrate a recent very good settlement I had in a case, I invited my brother (who else for my dinner "date"? - eyeroll) to go to any restaurant he wanted to last Friday night. He picked Steak & Ale, since neither of us had been to one in quite some time and he (like me) both love prime rib ..
I was very pleasantly surprised to find out, upon arrival at S & A, that they are currently running a $10.99 special on prime rib. You get the small portion (I think 8 oz. ?), a baked potato (they allow subs) and drink for that good price .. (it may also include the salad bar, not sure, but they really don't have much on it anyway) .. They also give you a mini loaf of their own whole wheat bread with honey butter, of which I just tried a small piece ... Yummmmmm! You can ask for either the hoseradish sauce or straight horseradish. I ordered the sauce and found it a little "weak", so asked for some straight radish and added it to the mix to kick things up a bit ..
I have to confess here though that my brother and I both, being quite hungry, skipped the special and ordered the medium size (12 oz. ?) prime rib instead, which cost us quite a bit more .. I had enough left over though from mine to take home for Saturday's lunch .. &;-)
Before going to S & A, you might want to call them about the special, as I think the placard said it was for a "limited time only" .. It may also not be available at your particular restaurant, or only certain days or hours (e.g. for lunch) .. They were also running another special on a plate that includes a small steak, a chicken breast, AND shrimp .. (wow - triple protein!)

Damn, that sounds good! Keep it sitting in that AU JAUS for a long time and get the stuff REALLY tender.
I love going out to steak joints! I usually get whatever would be most tender, cook it no more then medium-rare to keep it from getting too chewy, and, hopefully, it's alla-carte...because a few bites of steak is all I need.
Enjoy it, brother!
