Bed, couch, recliner, carpeted floor, whatever will work.  Be a little creative, esp. with pillows.  Brian

I was determined NOT to use the recliner to sleep in. I knew I was going to sit in it during recovery, So I wnated to avoid sleeping there also. I went straight to my bed. I did however use 7 pillows ro created a 'wedge' to sleep on.

Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone for you rreplies.  I found them very helpful.  I didn't think about renting a recliner.  I think I will try that if I decide to get one. Steve

I do not recall much discomfort from the surgery itself.  I do remember rolling in and out of bed. My biggest problem was with the wienie bag that I cam home with (catherter)  they told me I had to wear it for 10 days post discharge.  I couldn't pee on my own so they put the catheter back in.  I called after being home with the damn bag strapped to my thigh  night and day after three days. Told the nurse the wienie bag comes out today what time do I come in!!!! she just laughed.   I got there they loaded up the bladder with water and then sat me on a computerized toilet that measured flow speed,  and quantitiy. Gues I went on about something that is off tiopic but wanted to share it again. gary

No recliner for me. Our be is elevated about 8 inches.  It was before the surgery.  That made it perfect to get in and out of bed.

I had lap RNY and even with 6 incisions, I slept in bed.  Getting up was the toughest part, but I think the struggle made me stronger in the long run. Best of luck to you.
