Kick your own ass
I was reading a book last night that is meant for sales people but I found myself relating it to weight loss. The chapter was called "Kick your own ass." The whole idea behind it is you are responsible for your own success. Life is what you make of it.
Here are some of the points (adjusted from sales to weight loss) that I hope gives us all some food for thought.
Poor belief system: "I don't know if I will be successful with WLS but I've tried everything else so I'll try this." If that is your belief you will fail because you don't believe in this tool 100%. If your lucky you may have limited success but you won't have complete success.
Poor work habits: "I try but I don't always eat the way I'm supposed to, I don't drink all my water everyday, I only occasionally take my vitimans, etc..... You have the right car but you have to use the correct fuel, change the oil, and drive it correctly or it will just set in your driveway and rust away.
Outside pressure: "My family and friends are not supportive." If they truelly care they will want what is best for you. Explain what this means to you and how much you would appreciate their support. If they refuse stop hanging out with them and find new friends that are supportive.
Events that go against you: "I can't cook, I travel, I work weird hours, I had a death in the family, I lost my job, etc..... These are all excuses and with a I can attitude they will be overcome.
These are just a few of them but this is getting long and I'm sure over half the people have stopped reading by now. Hopefully this is a help to someone.
