Those are called "New Whey" and cost about  2.00 each.  Some types are not considered to be "complete" proteins, but the New Whey is.  If you don't mind the cost, most Docs and Nutritionalists say they are fine for a protein source.  However, they also say that after WLS most people can't handle the consistency, so they recommend mixing in a little crystal light of the same flavor.  This waters them down a bit and makes them easier to "stomach"

Geo, I have used those from time to time. Cutting them with water or adding them to Crystal-Lite or Tea Is a way to sneak in extra protein without even noticing. The Grape ones are pretty good too. Some prefer to just do them as "shots" and have it over with. Back when I was buying protein supplements, I’d pick up products from GNC. My local Kroger prints out 20% and often 30% Off Coupons for GNC. (I think the same family has their money in both franchises here in my town.) At 30% Off, those are a good value. I have always preferred the "Fruit flavored" Clear protein supplements Over the "Vanilla or Chocolate", Thick shakes. They taste too sweet for me and have a touch of ‘powdery’ texture. Best Wishes- Dx

There are a couple of different brands of liquid protein "shots".  New Whey from IDS is the one that has a 42 gram version.  I've used them often in the year since my surgery and they are the only protein supplement that I've been able to make myself take regularly since they are so easy to use.  Protein powders are to yucky for me.  I've ordered the New Whey from VigorousLiving.com and other internet stores.  They are expensive, compared to some others, but good.  There are at least two other liquid supplements marketed as "shots" - one I've seen at GNC and have tried but it was a 28 gram shot,  Can't remember the company tho.
