I want to reverse it if I can. Allow me to ramble.....

I am 20 months post op. Started at 250#,   Lowest weight was at 165, I am currently at 179#.   The 165 was after a week hospital stay for somehting non related to my surgery.  My weight for a majority of the time has been around 172#. the additional pounds have come on since October.  I am concerned that I may be eating too much. However I am not sure how you gentlemen are measuring ounces.  Is this by weight or by volume?  I am assuming by volume. If that be the case then I have way over extended my new pouch. I can usually eat two corn dogs in one sitting.  However can hardly get a bacon egg and cheese biscuit down in the morning. My biggest problem is that I HAVE to drink with my meals. I gag if I can't. Is anyone else having this problem? I can also eat a large bowl of popcorn with no problem. As a matter of fact I CRAVE the popcorn all day long. What can I do to reverse this trend? help!! You guys were there for me when I ffirst went through this.  Thanks in advance. Gary

Gary, Good to hear you’ve made it a point to "get back on track" Before experiencing Substantial "Re-Gain." Have no idea how tall you are, so 179 could be pudgy of Rail-thin Depending on your height. As for "Food Volume?" Pouch size actually has very little to do with long-term weight-loss results. *see post above… I’m at 4 ½ + years post-op And have been at or below goal since the end of the first year. I have about a 5 lb. "range" and have stayed within it. I typically get full on anywhere from a cup to two cups of food Depending on the density of the food. I often drink with my meals at least once or twice a day, But I eat 5 to 6 times a day. (3 medium or larger meals, 2 to 3 small snacks) The only difference I can tell from your post Is "What" we choose to eat. You mentioned only 3 foods- "…two corn dogs in one sitting." "…a bacon egg and cheese biscuit…." "…a large bowl of popcorn…." Surely these aren’t "Typical" food choices for you? I’m no "food-nazi" but, what types of foods are "Typical" for you? I have popcorn when I go to a movie, But don’t hit the movie-house but maybe once a month. I have had a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, but maybe once every two months. Corn Dogs? None since surgery. I do eat a hell of a lot of Meat and fresh veggies. Nearly no "white Carbs." (Bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, crackers, etc…) Many find that abstinence from "trigger foods" controls their cravings. Others have better results with "moderation" having a touch of the foods they want (no matter if they are good for them or not) To satisfy their cravings. Could be that "moderation" might not work so well for you? Like I said, I have no idea. 179lbs for me would be perfect at my 6’ 1 ½" height. Hope this helps… (Welcome to posting on The Men’s Board!) Best Wishes- Dx

I eat the wrong foods at the wrong time and I'm not losing any weight.  I'm almost 2 yrs post-op from my RNY revision.  I'm not gaining any weight either.  My problem is junk food. However, you asked about Volume.  While I agree with Dx about pouch size, I don't think that was your question.  Generally, you weigh solid food in ounces and measure liquids in a cup in ounces.  That is, solids get weighed and liquids are measured.  Too bad there aren't different terms for that elemental units of ounces since once you get past that you can't get confused, i.e.,  you know what a pound is and you also know what a gallon is.  They may or  may not be the same depending on what substance you are measuring. As to drinking with meals, take care as to how much you drink.  Sipping on water with a meal is quite different than drinking coffee or (God forbid) soda with the meal.  I often have soup as an appetizer and I haven't read any mention of that on this board.

Hey G... for measuring the size of your pouch...I think the chicks use volumn,,, but me being the lab geek I am...there is no standad ounce volumn to weight, except for water.... on the liquid with meals....every once in a while I sip something to cleam my mouth...but it goofy me...it stops me up, and spackles that hole shut...so I eat more if I don;t drink.... but if you are one of these people that can wash the food down...hmmmm that can be a problem... you mentioned some...questionable...choices...how do you do with the meat and veggies....(I know same old song) and you didn;t mention exercise.... russ
