With the encouragment of Cards Fan and Dan, I started logging my miles walked as part of the monthly 50 mile walking challenge in August of 2006. I completed my first 1000 miles 9 months later and I have just completed my second 1000 miles after 8 months of time. I have averaged about 120 miles a month.

In some ways I feel that I have been selfish with the time spent walking and not being with my family. I have encouraged them to walk with me, but for the most part they have declined. I feel that this is something that I must do for my long term physical and mental health.

I appreciate the accountablilty the walking challenge gave me. I encourage those that are not up to the more physically challenging exercises to consider walking. It has been one of my tools to success.

During WWII doctors in England were preparing for more heart attacks to occur.  Because of all types of shortages middle aged men and women would have to walk miles and miles to town to buy their good.  So what happened?  You guessed it...heart attacks went down substantially!!  Keep it up.  Brian
