DAmn,,,,
I am so off base with the rest of your.....
my insurace started coverage....I called the first doc that would take the insurance...and I jumped...
I did ask him if he had anyone die....he said no....
I really lucked out...he is a great surgeon...I know that after the fact...my hospital....it was where the doc did his surgery....
both questions...yes.....
for me...I don;t worry about the hospital much....(mine happened to be 1/2 mile from my house), but if I trust the doc....then in turn I trust where he practices....does that make sense...?

What information did you find most useful? (websites which ones, seminars, books, etc.....)
I had looked at all the info my wife had about WLS prior to her RNY. I also went online, checked out many of the surgeon's websites, and my INS carriers website as well. I decided on the BPD/DS because I wanted to be able to have a better selection of food and still lose the excess weight. RNY is a tool to help a diet work, BPD/DS is a tool to eliminate dieting and still lose weight. So long as you get your protein (typical carivores diet) you can eat whatever your body will let you eat. And trust me from living with a post op RNY, the flatuence from RNY can be as bad or worse then from DS.
Why did you choose your hospital/surgeon?
I wanted the BPD/DS, and at the time, no surgeon in my wife's surgeon's practice (Centennial) was doing the BPD/DS. Also, two of the three surgeons at Centennial came from Baptist, and my surgeon Dr. Spaw, has been preforming WLS longer than anyone else in area. He also sat down with me, asked me why I wanted the BPD/DS and not the RNY, and said he would support my decision to appeal my INS carriers denial of the BPD/DS, even though they had approved the RNY.
Would you recomend them to someone else?
