I go to Wal-Mart. Their Faded Glory jeans are about $10-12. They don't last long but by the time they wear out I'm usually ready for the next smaller size. I'm not going to waste money on nice clothes until I get closer to goal.

Thrift stores. You can find some great stuff there. I go with my wife, she and my daughter love them. The last time we went to Columbus, OH I found 2 really nice shirts, had the dry cleaning tags on them. These were not cheap shirts. I also found a pair of leather pants. I ride my motorcycles all year. I always wanted to buy a pair of leather pants but didn't want to pay the cost. When I was size 54 it would have taken a couple of cows. I was going through the pants at a thrift store and there they were, size 34, $13.00. For $13.00 how could I go wrong. Bought them took them home and tried them on and they fit great. Who ever had them before folded them up and used double sided adhesive to shorten them so even the length was good. I have found a couple of nice silk shirts at my local thrift store, $3.00 a piece. I never did like thrift stores before, but now I like em. pan head

My wife went into a Steve and Barry's and their pants start at $12 for dress pants and $10 for jeans. They are great quality too ( I was shocked about this because of the price). When they have sales, which is most of the time, I can get jeans for $7. I never went it to there store before because it advertises itself as "college wear" so I was thinking lots of hats and college logo stuff... Thats not the case at all.

Hey, I would say you are small waisted, but hey, that makes you look skinny!  For me, (I had surgery about the same time as you)  I had RNY, but my BMI wasn't as high (I got approved because of sleep apnea, arthritis, GERD, high cholesterol, my BMI was about 38).  I am down 70lbs, 15 lbs from my goal weight.  I started at  a 40 waist (I am only 5'8").  I just fit into some 33 jeans and I was ecstatic!  My weight is 180 right now.  Looks like I could end up 30-32" waist when all is said and done.  I think I was in my teens the last time I wore a size 32" waist.  Like above, I have no ass anymore and some slight excess fat on my "love handles" and upper back  (the outsides of my shoulderblades).  My chest seemed to shrink in proportion to my waist.  I no longer have "moobs".   I wear a size medium shirt (started with 1-2x).  Most of my fat was in my belly.  Keep going, you are doing great.

man, i would have killed to have your waist at your heaviest! i was a 52" waist now a 32". i looked like a butter ball. i think there's 33's out there, i remember dx talking about them. so my waist moved pretty fast too. i went from 2xl shirts to smalls! i have a problem because of my lifting. so the back is not wide enough and the arms and shoulder area are too small. so sometimes i have to wear med shirts. hey, have fun with it. this is the big pay off, buying new clothes and looking good! carbonblob

It may cost a smidge more, but LL Bean has those in between waist sizes. Tommy

Hye rgmuckli, when I was at 432 pounds 2 weeks pre-op I was wearing a size 58 waist and a 4X shirt.  I am 6'.  Now at 185 pounds, I wear a size 32 or 34 waist (depending on the pants) and a medium shirt.  I am an Arizona jeans fanatic, JC Penny's usually has real good prices on them.  I dont think I've ever seen odd size waists though. Interestingly enough, my inseam went from a 30 to 32 or 34, depending again on the pants. Good luck. John

Well, I kind of mirror your weight loss. Starting (heaviest): 325    size 44-46 waist    xxl - xxxl Shirt (from target) Now (6 months out- so more to lose): 211 Size 36 waist   M-L shirt I think there should be a definite distinction noted between sizes and stores. Some stores run smaller than others (a L at target is an XL at other places). Often print shirts I wear I need to go XL. As far as shirt size goes, I started out as an 18-18.5 and am now a solid 16. But even those are variable as far as sizing goes. I shop at a larger variety of stores, so it is way harder for me to say for sure what size I am anymore.

Hey .... I am a week out today.  I have no idea what to expect over the next 3 weeks, month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months or a year.  I am a 52 inch waist and 280 at surgery date.  Any help you guys can give would be great.  What do you for protein ?  I know I am supposed to be on liquid only for a couple weeks.   I am just so tired.  I have so many questions.  I guess I could use an IM buddy to talk about all this stuff and not bore everyone! my wife has made some great buys at the local thrift store.  At the moment I am wearing 36 pants and xl shirts.  she bought all of my clothes at the thrift store.  these include new levis, old navy sweater that she paid 5 bucks for both. side note i bought my first compression shirt and it has made a heck of a difference.  at least in the way I feel.  that loose skin is much more controlled.  I am going to have to get a bunch more of these when they go on sale. jim D
