Hey guys I have a question. I got the sugury about 4 months ago. At the time I weight 340 and was a waist size 42-44 and Shirt size 3X. Now my waist has really started moving down alot. I thought at the end of my journey I would be about a waist size 36 but I just got new jeans and they are a 33. They are a little sung but I am 220 right now so I still have more to lose so they will fit better in under a week. I think now when I get down to goal 180 or lower that I will be a 30-32. Is this normal? Also is size 33 a normal jean size or does only old Navy carry it? My other question is I went to a 3x to a xl which is great but why is my waist moving so much faster? Anyone else have this time of thing happen with a way smaller waist size then they thought while the shirt size moves much slower? What kind of sizes were you guys when you were at goal? My goal is to be a shirt size M. Right now Large fit but is a little tight so xl still looks better.

You were 340 lbs. and a 42-44 waist?  Are you sure that wasn't a typo?  That's amazing! I was 320 at surgery and had some tight 52 shorts I wore most of the summer.  I'd say, if I had gone for comfort, I was about a 54. Now, after 16 months, I'm in a 42 dress pant and 40 jeans, but they are lose.  Especially the dress pants.  I want to wait until I can get into a fairly comfortable38 before buying new, though.

For me sizing was as follows...

404 lbs = 60"

300 lbs = 50"

212 = 38"

I think much of that is due to the actual "where" you carried all that weight....my ass is now non-existant and my belly has only a slight apron of extra skin. I think it's cause my parents came from Serbia back in the 1920's and that serbian blood has always meant that my body produced MUCH oil all the time all over my skin and scalp. Dunno tho how others sizings might have worked....guys, let us know? Jim

Thanks for your input so far. But it was not a typo I was 340 and wearing a 42 but since they were kind of tight I think I should have been a 44. My waist size now is going down fast and for my weight 220 I think a wear a pretty small size? Input?

I am having the same experience you are. I started around 360 and I am 6' tall, I am down 100 lbs. I was wearing 48's or 50's and 4XLT shirts. I am now in 40's and 2XLT's. My waist seems to be losing much quicker than my stomach. I carry most of my excess weight around my stomach.  I originally thought I might get into 36 pants, but now I am not sure how low I will go. I still have plenty to lose around my waist with more that 70 lbs to goal and I can almost fit my 38's I got for x-mas. I have a lot to lose around my stomach still so I think I will probably end up in a large possibly medium.

Before surgery I was 350lbs, size 50 waist and 18 1/2" neck (2X). Now I am 8 months out at 240, size 38 waist and 16 1/2" neck (XL). I thought when this was all over I might be in a 36. Now it looks like I'll be in a 32 or so if I get down to goal. So yes, my waist is moving much faster than my chest and getting much smaller than I expected. That's cool with me because having a 32" waist and 52" chest would be pretty sweet. The most likely explanation for the waist shrinking so much faster is that you have a helluva lot more fat around your belly than your chest. On a side note, it occurred to me that while I thought my goal would be about 200lbs. I really started looking at myself and concluded that if I maintain my current diet/exercise and have PS to get rid of excess skin I will probably end up weighing about 150.

 a 52" chest????  surely THAT was a typo ..     I took my measurements the other day for the first time in months ..  Was curious since I don't seem to be losing any more lbs. (still stuck @ 260 or so)  and my body fat % is about the same, too (around 30%) ..  yet people have been (complaining?) that I am really starting to look "skinny" ..     I was amazed that my chest and waist (well, technically I guess "hips") measurements are, as they always seem to have been in life, almost the same (42 1/2") ..   Not sure what this means, but it really sucks .. It means I"ll never get that "v" shape that they say is so attractive for us guys to have (i.e. where the chest measurement is larger than the waist measurement, by at least 4")  ..   &:-(...    (well, at least that's what the literature that came with The Bullworker exercise gizmo always said!)

I just took my measurements and I have a 38" waist and 50" chest.  While I don't think I'll end up with a 32/52 measurement there should be enough difference between the two to be fairly noticeable.

I think we see a pattern here.....I am the same way. I think we all loose fast, not always a good thing as far as $$ wise. Thank God for others that bless others with old clothes....
My info is -
Highest and DOS 422 and 60" and 3xl
Today - 279 44" and xl/2xl
That is in 6 months.

Keep it up.....

Where have you guys been going for cloths when you don't fit them anymore? I have been going to Old Navy for Jean. They are about $20 a pair. But I am in a XL shirt size now and all of my shirts are 2XL. Where should I go? Cause if I buy all nice things and go down in size it was a waste.
