After careful consideration I sat down and set my 2008 and beyond goals with the pinnacle being running and competeing the IronMan Hawaii triathalon.  Here they are in no particular order:

- Complete the testing and certification for the ISAA personal trainer certification
- Complete a half-marathon (Mardi Gras half marathon in early Feb. 2008)
- Complete the Crescent City Classic 10K in 2008 in 48 minutes or below.
- Complete a sprint triathalon.  (The Louisiana Triathalon in April is pretty much a sprint.   500m swim, 25mi bike, 5K run)
- Complete a full marathon and qualify for the Boston & New York City marathons
- Complete in a half-triathalon
- Complete the Boston Marathon
- Complete the New York City Marathon
- Complete the Goofy Challenge at Disney
- Complete an IronMan half-triathalon
- Complete a full triathalon
- Complete a full IronMan triathalon (Florida, Wisconsion, or Kentucky.  Probably Florida.  It's closer and FLATTER.)   :)
- Complete the IronMan Hawaii triathalon

I'd say that this goal list is just gonna be just a tad harder to reach than my last surgery list but I have no doubt that all I'll be able to complete them!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday and I wish you all the best in the upcoming New Year.

Chad.

hey chad, bet you get em all. i can't believe how well some of the guys have done in that area. scott, danny, aj, big fun, joe etc. if i left anyone out sorry, just thinking off the top of my head but the point is a lot of guys find out they can do this. either for the first time or pick up where they left off. i know dave from japan has some great posts as far as training for running goes and i think aj does too. maybe look them up.

you inspired me to make some goals this year. something i haven't done since surgery. i'm going to eat better and try to come here more to stay accountable. i've put on a couple pounds and last night my 32's were just a little too tight. so i'm going to step up my cardio and eat right. let me know how you're doing. oh, i think it was you, didn't you have the crazy neighbor who **** a brick everytime you park near the sidewalk? was that you? if so, have you kicked his ass yet? judging by your after pick i wouldn't think he would want to **** you off. i remember he made a fat remark to you a while back. bet he's not doing that anymore! just another side benefit from all your hard work in the gym. so enjoy.....carbonblob

Hah hah.  Yeah that's me with the crazy ass neighbor.   He hasn't said anything to me since the incident.  He actually made that 'fat boy' remark to one of my buddies.  Had he said that to me I'd probably just be up for parole this month because I woulda beat his sorry ass down.  :)  I've been a busy bee exercising my rights as a taxpayer in my parish getting the city government and department of public works involved.   They came out and measured the steet width and some other **** and made the determination that there was absolutely no reason for the signs to be on both sides of the street.   They are removing the signs from one side soon.   I also got in touch with my councilman regarding the issue and he got an amendment to the local ordinance passed that now allows individuals with short driveways like me to have cars block the sidewalk.   As soon as they take the signs down I'm going to attach a note to a brick (with a pretty bow on it) and throw it in his yard.  I'll have the amended ordinance on there along with a special message stating that it was me who had the signs removed and the citizen who petitioned the council to update the ordinance.

That's good legwork on the legal side, but I'd kick his ass anyway.

i'm with only guy, kick his ass anyway.

good work on the issue. same thing going on here. we're a group trying to get public use of our local canyons back for off leash pets. big biz and big gov't. are trying to take it away. we've got all kinds of press and the last two weeks they have started to back down. it's a long way from over but it's been a huge fight with lawyers, city planners and all kinds of people helping out. we have a web site and we take turns getting petitions signed. nothing ever comes easy so i understand the energy this took on your part. hell, you even made law! that's way cool. yeah, i would let that jag off know for sure it was you. he pissed off the wrong guy.

i would have non stop parties and park all over his house and your driveway. can you park on your yard too? just go over the top with it. of course in this day and age he might come over and kill you with a shotgun on prime time tv. who cares? it would be worth it to see his face when all the signs go down and the ordinance is passed. he's really going to freak out. tell him you were willing to look the other way but once he called your friend a fat boy you decided then and there to start your campaign. let him naw at that one. way to go.....carbonblob

Now the beautiful thing would be if they removed the signs on HIS side of the street. Then all your friends could come over and park in front of his house, and there wouldn't be a damn thing he could do about it. Hell, I would buy an old jalopy and park it there all the time just to make him crazy.

Great thread, Bayou Boy . If we don't have goals (fitness or otherwise), odds are we're not going to improve and most likely stagnate. I put together my 2008 cycling schedule and it's a frickin killer. It includes the 4 day Skinny Tire cycling festival in Moab, the 7 day Ride the Rockies event as well as the two toughest 1 day century road rides in Colorado, the Triple Bypass and the Copper Triangle (which I did this year). I also have a 3 day Iowa/Mo. ride, the Elephant Rock 100 miler which is the first century I did post-WLS so it's near and dear to my heart.  Like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.    My best to you in accomplishing each and every one of your very challenging goals!!
