Just wondering?
I'm still a ways out, but I have been wondering something for a while now. I have quite the hairy belly (I know, incredibly sexy :)). Every time I've tried to even "clip" my body hair to a more presentable legnth, I get unreal ingrown hairs! I was just wondering if any of you were shaved prior to surgery or if they left you alone? Minor issue, I know, but I'm just curious.
Thanks
I had surgery thursday, got home saturday. I'm fairly hairy, not Robin Williams hairy, but I have enough. They shaved most of my abdomen except my chest. Five days later, it's already grown out about 1/4", with minimal discomfort.
I figured they would probably shave me. I wonder if, since you know this is coming, if you could use a Nair type product about a week or two beforehand? The nurse who shaved me said that they specifically DO NOT want patients to shave themselves in advance, because it increases the potential of skin infections prior to surgery. You could check with your surgeon's office.

I feel your pain. I lost all the hair on my head and it grew back on my chest, stomach and back. I could probably shave all the hair from my arms, back, chest and belly and have someone weave me a nice fur coat. :)
They shaved me for each of my 3 surgeries and it seems like each time they used a dull, rusty spoon and used sand as shaving cream. I got ingrown hairs and rashes each time.
