Here is a before not the best but you get the idea and below is the lowest I got.......Iost 90 total and gained back 27 and even though I have started back on plan the weight is not coming off.........still the best thing I ever did....and I will get the weight gained off again, don't regret the band, do regret letting myself go when I had a unfill but only have myself to blame

Coming up on my 4th Anniversary, have not lost all my weight, but completely satisfied with what I have lost.

I'm a little more than 2 years out and am down 70 lbs.  The band has allowed me to lead a normal life and maintain my weight loss.  Still would like to lose another 30.  For my pictures click my name over there

I am a little over 18 months I out and I have lost almost 70 lbs. ...hopefully by the end of the weekend, I will be in one-der-land (sooooo close).   Sometimes, the slowness of the weight loss gets me down but I have always been encouraged by how my clothes fit from month to month. A dress that was way too snug last week fits perfectly today.

The band was the best choice for me.  My comorbidities  are gone and I'm crazy in love with my DH who is so thrilled for my success.   I would do it again, positively.

Don't call me a band cheerleader though.   I think that's a snarky description anyway.  Just because I am happy with my choice doesn't mean I think it is the best WLS...BUT...it was the best choice for me, based on my medical history and limitations.  Please do your research :)

Define "success". Many ppl lose weight after getting the lap-band, but that doesn't necessarily mean their WLS was a success.

I lost about 90 pounds after getting my band. Was my band a success? No. I lost it by dieting b/c after 17 fills.............I NEVER GOT RESTRICTION!

Many have lost a lot of weight b/c of their band. 100, 150 pounds, etc. Does that mean that their band was a success? Not if they just lost it b/c of all the throwing up! That's NOT healthy! And that's NOT how the band is advertised to work!

A few have lost weight effortlessly, or very close to it with the band. They achieved perfect restricion early out. The band worked exactly as it was discribed.........FOR A FEW YEARS! Then the complications and surgeries started. So was their band a success? Well they thought so...........until they turned into "one of US".

There is one member here that even wrote a band book. She considers her band a success. However after 4 1/2 years she has already had a slip, port replacement or reattachment, dialated esophagus, difficulty swallowing, and possibly ANOTHER slip!  In addition to all this, she will now be getting rid of her band and revising to a better WLS! So was her band a success??? She still claims it is!

So really what this comes down to is what do YOU consider a success? If you will be happy with a band that you will more than likely only have 5 years or so and then have to have it removed.......go for it! If you will be happy getting a band that may NEVER give you restricion.................go for it! If you will be happy getting and band knowing it's possible to NEVER even lose one ounce.............go for it!

However if you want a WLS that is guaranteed to have a better SUCCESS rate............GO FOR ANYTHING BUT THE BAND!!!

Adjustable Gastric Band on 11/10/11
I am pretty happy with my band.  I was banded on 11/10/12, and I have lost a total of 56 lbs.  I think that I need a little more restriction, but that is easily taken care of.  I do work at it though.  I exercise a lot, and what what I eat.  Good luck!  Michelle.
