Let's learn a new word: "Schadenfreude"
Will my band eventually reach an expiration date, so to speak? I don't know. But I've always been told, "don't trouble trouble 'til trouble troubles you", so I'm not going to walk around with a cloud over my head, and I am certainly not going to spend time on here looking for people to laugh at when their band, RNY, sleeve or DS goes bad on them.
And yes - ANY surgery can fail or go bad at any time and for any reason.

Well said Bette, what is funny is that the first thing I thought about yesterday when someone asked if we thought our band would last a life time, was, that when my husband was a baby or a teen or a young man, I'm sure he and his parents probably thought that his knees would last a lifetime, but low and behold, one needs to be replaced. I have had a tooth replaced, did I think my teeth would last a lifetime, probably so. But I am not thinking that any of my other teeth will have to be replaced, or wondering if each tooth ache means it will have to come out. I did not go into this thinking I would have to have my band replaced, I plan on using it forever. But who knows, I may need it out next week. I still don't understand why someone else, down falls, make one feel better about their own or their own self. I'm just glad I am not one of those people!
And as I've read you say before, I don't care how any one losses weight, if you eat green jelly beans while standing on your head, good for you!!

my band didnt fail, I failed my band, not using the tool properly. trying to find the article in all in the mind forum where u can work through the mental issues of this process, havent seen it on quick glance oh wait maybe i saved it somewhere. Never surprises me when someone acts out of fear since this is after all psychoplanet. its the ones that are nice that surprise me. the truly caring and compassionate ones that walk the earth with us. I will use that outbreak as a forgiveness lesson for me. JAFO: just another forgiveness lesson in the metaphysical sense. not the old fashion kind where im better than you so I will forgive YOU. Just remembering we are all one in Spirit. i try to remember to be kind we are all walking a hard path, i try to remember that and be kind anyway. often dont succeed at it but sometimes i do. anyway. been a long time since ive been here. ♥ julie
this is after all psychoplanet

If you are finding your happiness at the misfortune of someone else, just stop it. YOU could be next.
Let's all hold hands and pray that misfortune quickly finds a permanent home in the life of the Mistress of Schadenfreude.

Preach. Tell it and Amen. Girl, you could not have said it any better. I find it trifling that there are really people out there that relish in others misfortunes. Its really unbelievable that some people are so unkind. Instead of being helpful and listening or giving good advice, lending and ear or perhaps a kind work they continue to bash and belittle. It really is pathetic and very very sad.
