Revising to another procedure . . .
I have not been successful, but I still do not blame it on my band...I blame it on my stupid body! I love my band, it has taught me how to eat 'normal' sized meals, it has taught me that I do not need to snack all night long. Even after 2 1/2 years I am still hopeful that eventually something will 'click' and I will start losing again. I have thought about revision, but I am still scared to have any other wls.

I haven't been on here in a very long time. I found out in early December that my band slipped. I haven't done anything with it because I'm one of the lucky ones who do not have major problems, I'm a little loose right now only to prevent acid reflux.
I'm scheduled to have revision surgery in early February. At this time I'm not sure if they will just fix the band, try to put it back into place or if I will revise to a sleeve. One part of me wants to revise to the sleeve because it's less maintenance than the band.
I have six friends with lap bands. Three of us have had slip problems (not all the same surgeon). I'm not really excited about those odds.
I'm trying to make the right decision in this fight. I'm up 7 lbs and know I can't do this without a tool, and I'm worried I will still have problems even if they fix the slip.

i understand the intent of this thread - just curious though...
if your lapband decided it would rather be attached to your liver & had to come out - would you revise or would you roll the dice?
ETA - roll the dice meaning you'd do what you can not to gain & go WLS free.

Oh, for Christ's sake, we both know that is NOT what I'm talking about. I'm not taking about serious medical issues.
If someone has a port flip, the answer is NOT to get a sleeve or DS. If someone is a month out from surgery and has "only" lost 10 pounds, the answer is NOT to have another surgery. Some people on here think that MORE surgery is the answer to every pimple and fart that pops up or out after banding!

Okay, I'll answer this way: I don't know.
If the band HAD to come, it would come out. After THAT . . .? I doubt that I would be able to do this on my own. No, I KNOW that I wouldn't be able to do this without some form of WLS, since my track record over the course of the rest of my life showed my inability to keep weight off for any substantial amount of time.
If I were given the option of the other 3 surgeries and I HAD to choose ONE of them, I guess I would, reluctantly, go with the sleeve.
