Looking for Long Term Success Stories

I am new to this site and plan to have lap band soon.

I am looking for long term success stories.  I am reading about problems with the surgery and that is important education also, but for right now I am looking for people who:

Are at least 3 years out from their surgery
Have lost at least 50% of their excess weight
Have not had major problems or repeat surgeries.

I need to know that (and if) you are out there.

Thank you so much!

I am almost 8 years out.

I have lost far more than 50% of my excess weight.

I have not had what I consider "major" problems, but I did develop a hiatal hernia from too rapid weight loss and had to have it fixed, and had a newer band put in during that surgery.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

I am not yet as far out as you wanted to hear from people (though there are many on here who are well past 3 years.) But I lost 75% of my excess weight in the first year. I'm approaching 2 years out. I hope to someday lose the last 25% but let me tell you, life is amazingly better even still being "overweight." Best of luck to you!

Highest Wt: 274 / LAP-Band Low: 180 / Sleeved at 233 / Goal: 160!

You will find some on here that are 3 years out, but you will find very few that are 5 years out. And of those, I don't think you will find any that have not had complications.

Five and a half. All my excess weight in 15 months.

Very happy bandster.

Bu I did have a leak about a year ago. So I did have a repeat op, but it was quick, simple and effective.

Bu here's the thing. Even if it had been serious and necessitated removal, I would not regret one seoond of being banded. If you told me I would need leak repairs every five years, I would say it was a nuisance but I woud still not regret it!

I peronally, as in face to face, know 8 people over 5 years out. One had non- band problems and had her band removed. The rest are near, at or below goal and happy

Welcome!

I was banded a little over 4 years ago. I lost 100% of my excess weight in a year. I used to wear size 2-3X or 22-24, now I wear size 8-10.

After I lost my excess weight, I had a band slip that was fixed without surgery and a port flip that was fixed with surgery.
