diet following surgery
Congrats on being banded, Michele.
Did your clinic not give you a post-op eating plan to follow? Most bariatric clinics instruct band patients to follow a clear liquid diet, then a full liquid diet, then a puree (or "mushy") diet, then a soft foods diet, before progressing to solid food. The length of time spent in each phase depends on the clinic. I did liquids for 2 weeks, purees for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2 weeks. While on liquids I didn't worry about how many calories I was consuming - I concentrated on getting at least 64 ounces of liquids a day. After that my diet was 800 calories a day with a minimum of 60 grams of protein.
If I were you, I'd give your clinic a call on Monday and ask for specific instructions.

I was on liquids for 3 days, full liquids (smoothies) to 2 weeks out (1 wk, 4 days), mushies for 2 weeks and then regular food. Can't believe they'd turn you loose with no instructions! You should be sipping water almost constantly except for 30 min. before and after meals/snacks. I could consume about 1/2 c. at a time of mushies. Protein first, veggies next, carbs as filler, little to no sugar. I didn't obsess about calories, but more about quanity. But all this is just me. Definitely call your Dr. office and find out what they want you to be doing.
