Do you base other Failures on YOUR Success?

Always believe in YOURSELF, successful people are always positive and have a great outlook on life whether it is a job, school, relationships, weight loss journeys, etc....always listen to others perspectives and take that with a grain of salt and take others failures and analyze it to enhance your own goals and aspirations.  YOU know YOURSELF BETTER than anyone and let no one lead you astray because in the end you will have to live with the END results for LIFE.

I remember when I was researching weight loss surgery 6 years ago, I was bombarded with private emails telling me do not get the lap band, I thought that was odd, why would someone THAT DO NOT KNOW ME OR MY HEALTH HISTORY OR MY CAPABILITIES, tell me not to get a surgery that I had researched and made my OWN mind up to get.  But you know I am too  smart for that, I said to myself those people are secretly hurting and they want ME to hurt too (misery some how loves company).

I would Never EVER tell someone to get the Lap band, you will NEVER see me sending out solicitations to strangers and tell them NOT to get a particular surgery, not only is it INSULTING to tell someone to get a particular surgery it can dangerous, I don't know that persons medical history, eating habits, financial status, willingness to follow a program, mental health, etc.

Deciding on a particular surgery should be UP TO YOU, YOUR SURGEON and possibly your family because in the END you will have to live with any complications, lack of weight loss or its impact on your quality of life.

My quote for today...........have a good one

Gee, nobody bombarded me with private emails not to get the band.  I wish they had, it possibly could have saved me a lot of MISERY!!!

ME TOO!
I wish to God that someone had told me what I was setting myself up for... years of abject misery, chronic pain, near death and disappointment.  (Disappointment being the lesser evil of that list, of course!)

I guess that's telling... those people who only care about themselves wouldn't bother to help others.

Yes, if I wanted people to be miserable, I would keep my mouth shut.  But I care, that's why I share my experience.  That's why all of us ex-bandsters bother to tell our stories....we do care.

Overall, weight loss surgery is a very personal issue.

I respect everyones opinions and information that is why I am here on these boards, to get information. I respect the people who have had issues with the band and I respect the people who had BOB or other revisions. This is a tremendous adjustment and life change.

We should all learn from each, while understanding that everyone is different. Everyone's body is different and everyone's mental and emotional level is different. Everyone's situation is different.

What these forums are for is support and information. If someone asks about problems give them the information, otherwise no one should be putting people or surgies on blast.

I hope people respect each other and the decisions everyone makes. What surgery I have only affects me, but the mental and emotional battles that all of us have our comonalities that should be embraced and discussed here.

If I want to read about complications,  I will (and have) googled it. At this point in time with the internet if you want to find something out you can. No need to put anything on blast.

I am happy with my surgery choice and hope that everyone else is. If there comes a day when there is a complication  I will address that then, until then I will continue enjoying the band. It has been my life changer, lets not bring each other down in an environment where we should be supportive of each other.

Peace and god bless.

I hear what you are saying, but a lot of people consider their 'research' to be done when going to an info session on the band.  Being supportive is not always blowing rainbows and unicorns someone's way-its tellignthe truth, no matter how painful or un popular it is.

I never received a single message from anyone discouraging me from the band. Everyone was always so supportive.

Banded on 11/02/06. Looking forward to a revision to VSG.

I am so glad to have had the chance to read so many people's experiences with the band - so that I knew I didn't want one.  the whole  "it's adjustable" thing that is supposedly a plus? it makes no sense.

I got a surgery that never NEEDS adjusting - it's got the perfect restriction, all the time.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
