Finally Approved

This time last year we had Aetna.. and after 3 denials and 4 months of sheer torture, I allowed the subject of WLS to rest and tried to move on with my life.. so to speak. At any rate.. I came to this board and recieved alot of help with trying to appeal and get Aetna to cover my surgery. I even thought about hiring an attorney.. but I decided against that. I am VERY HAPPY to report that exactly 1 yr lately, here I am finally APPROVED for Gastric Bypass surgery. My husband changed jobs and his new employer has United Healthcare, PPO.. so only after 3 weeks of being on the job ( benefits started day one) we were both approved for surgery. Just thought I would share Best wishes to those of you who are still seeking approval.. whatever you do.. don't give up!

I'm sorry you had so much trouble with Aetna. I was approved in just two weeks. Of course I spent two years preparing my stuff to submit to Aetna. I was very thourough and tried to give them exactly what they wanted to the letter. I think that's why I was approved so quickly. I will second your opinion, don't give up, work hard, work long, work smart and you'll get your approval. If it takes two years, then take two years. Do whatever you need to do to make it happen. That's wonderful news It's funny how things work out. I kind of gave up on getting WLS and was laying back waiting to change insurance companies and BOOM!! They approved me. Donna 338/167
