I'm in the process of gathering all of the required information. How long does it take for approval once Tricare is contacted?

72 hours for me...but, I am not sure what the policy is.

Oh just an fyi...they do not budge if you do not meet the weight criteria. They use the metropolitian weight charts.

I couldnt tell you...except that Im in the appeals part of it now....they denied me with 2 co and a 42 BMI...to say the least Im not a happy camper with them right now!!! They denied me in less than 24 hrs...we resumitted with additional info..they through it into appeals without any explanation. I hope you have better luck than I did. Are you online with TriCare...you can find out there before your doctor does.

I know what your feeling I was denied and then I had to send it to tma. they sent me a letter saying it would be 60 days. I don't understand why they denied you . are you a 100 lbs over weight ? you said you have 2 co-morbities. i am so tired of tricare there is no way to contact tma so i am just waiting and it's driving me nuts why would it take 60 days? WELL i WISH YOU ALL LUCK take care

Hi patty... I agree I call them every day just to see and mainly to **** them off and mybe they will give an answer. You know just a Yes or No...but if its NO then I want to know why!!
Yes I have 2 Co...Arthritis and BP, with a BMI of42. Im a light weight but I still meet the requirements that TriCare has. I have seen people on here with less and approved in less than 24.
Are you registered on line with Tri Care? You can Email them and bug them that way too...lol You get faster answers that way too...and you can see your referals there too....Well good luck and let me know if you get your approval...Keeping my fingers crossed for you and me...lol

I was approved within a few days. Tricare Prime had a crap load of hoops to jump through though and I also had a 6 month supervised diet per tricare. I had a bmi of 58.6 and around 200 lbs to lose. I also had hypertension and sleep apnea.
