Addicted to weight scale?
Hello to All of you...
I have an issue now....I can't break a habit of weighing myself now on a daily basis (if not more than once)..I know I shouldn't do it...I thought I was going to break it once I started back at work.... but no,.. it didn't happen...I still run for the scale first thing after morning shower..... it's sick.... and if didn't loose anything on a particular day I feel upset..I suspect I'm not the only one with this bad habit.... how did you guys, break yourself out of it? I don't want to bu emotionally ruled by it now, especially since I never was before the surgery..
Any advice?
Love, Rita
I do the same thing...every morning after the shower while I am naked
(ok, so put the mental image out of your heads). I have learned not to get upset though cause I KNOW that it WILL start moving again. It can be frustrating...I just came out of a two week plateau...lost about 9 pounds and now it has stopped moving AGAIN...at 1 pound before my next goal so I am watching it like a hawk over that 1 measly pound *sigh*. I guess the only advice I have is to not get upset if you are the same one day...the weight IS coming off.
Good Luck!!

I weigh everyday also. It is to keep myself accountable though (i'm almost 3 years out). I wouldn't worry about it unless you find yourself getting really upset with not losing or something along those lines. Then you might put them away or have someone hide them for you and only get it out once a week to weigh. Just an idea. I wouldn't let it get me upset though. You will lose.

Shelly, that's cute idea to hide it...I just see my hubby doing that.... it will be a source of many jokes for him....
..I can see it.. and then on saturday morning make it a family event to weigh everyone...well, not the kids... My hubby is loosing weight too since we adjusted our diets and cooking once I made my mind about surgery...
Thanks.., love, Rita

I am an admitted scale ho as well... I have to have it. But there are weeks and weeks sometimes that I don't lose anything. But I knew before surgery that this would happen. And when it does, I do get frustrated, but I expect it. I DON'T GET UPSET.... It is just all part of the process. And during this process, it tells me whether I need to keep doing something or that I need to change something up. And sometimes, no matter what I do, the pounds still don't move.
I think it is all in your attitude and how you approach it. Some people have to get rid of their scales, or have someone hide them. Not me... I might have to hurt someone if they hid my scales. As long as you accept the fact that the scales may not always be your best friend, that it may frustrate you, and you can continue living without the scale ruling your life instead of the other way around, there is nothing wrong with daily weighing.
OK, off my soapbox... Next.....

I'm a TOTAL slave to my scale. Somedays I LOVE that little sucker and other days I just want to kick it into next week!! (like it's the poor scale's fault! LOL!)
I haven't broken the habit...and I'm over a year out.
When you find a 12 step program for this, let me know....
Hi. My name is Tami and I'm a scale-a-holic......
