Hey, everybody...I'm new here. I have a surgery date of Aug. 31 and I'm really excited/scared...but I have so many questions. First one, does ANYONE know of a support group in the ******* area? I have been going to the one in Gainesville, but it's a drive for me, and very inconsistent. I'm looking for support a little more locally. I look forward to getting to know others who have been where I am now.

Howdy, neighbor! I'm not aware of a support group in our area, but I hear there is one in Lawrenceville. Several of the surgeons have their own support groups as well. I was really good about going to the group meetings pre-op and immediately post-op, but I haven't gone since my surgeon "released" me for exercise. His support group meetings are on Wed. nights, and that is one of my training/work-out nights. So, you see...I'm not willing to miss a workout to go to the meetings. It's amazing how much your life changes post-op. Good luck to you! Catherine

Hi Gretchen, I don't know of a support group in ******* but I attend a weekly meeting in Lawrenceville. It is non surgeon specific and anyone in any stage of the journey is welcome to attend. Support people and family members are also welcome. We meet every Wednesday night at Central Gwinnett High School from 7 - 9 pm. We are currently meeting in the media room (library) which is just off the main hall. We also get together for dinner before the meeting. We have a messageboard on yahoo. If you would like more info feel free to email me. Marie post op, 12/02/03 lp rny, Ddr Hart 539/382/250
