Plastic Surgery Question
Rozzy,
I don't know anything about the plastic surgeons down here yet but wanted to share my experiences with reconstruction and to ask what procedure(s) you are considering? Mainly because after my first WLS I had one time under that the PS in PA did my arms and tummy. That was one year post op. Three years post op I did my breasts and thighs (I was scared crapless I would loose sensation in my breats, that's why I put it off so long).
From my OWN experiences I wanted to share with you that when it comes time to do it again after this corrective gastric surgery next month I know I will be looking for someone to do reconstruction again but no way in HECK will I even attempt to do my thighs again. After the fact I've found that not many people have much luck with a nice looking thigh! It did remove the excess skin BUT I have scars on my inner thighs from just about the bend of my hiney all the way around to the middle of my lap. Never would I really consider any kind of tattooing but I can admit more than once I've thought the only way to hide that long and anywhere from 1 1/2 - 3" wide scars could only be 'hidden' by a FULL tattoo. Now as far as the breasts, arms and tummy I would not hesitate to redo them again in a heartbeat. I went from a 48DD pre op VBG to having my surgeon mold them to 38C. Through the years since then (96 for breasts and thighs) I have maintained a size 40D now. Another area that I have had excess skin removed twice without ANY positive results is in the front of private area {the pubic hair area} (BLUSH) and again, also after the fact, my OB/GYN told me that there will never be a way for my not to have excess skin in that area after WLS so I wont bother with that again either.
Something that I find odd as far as insurance and the way people talk about plastic surgery here VS reconstruction surgery. Up north the only way BCBS would even consider paying for reconstruction is if it is medically necessary and my surgeon's letter reflected that ALWAYS referring to it as reconstructive surgery, never plastic surgeru. Might be something to keep in mind, just in case insurance here is finicky as well. With a request fro reconstruction it didn't even take a month for approvals and was never denied (both times)
Hope this helps.
