Oh the hardest thing is not getting back bad habits. I have been so fortunate that I have NEVER thrown up or had a bad dump after surgery. But that is bad too, because I am afraid I can eat anything. I am finding it hard right now not to snack, and go back to bad habits. I can eat more than I think I should, and have to admit I have had things that should never have crossed my lips...such as a piece of cake, or a taste of ice cream. I pray that God will help me control my urges, and make the right choices. BTW.. some people said that their taste buds changed after surgery. I STILL crave carbs and sweets I do get in all my water most days, and my protein. I religously have a 44 gram of protein drink every day, Protein Plus I find at Vitamin World. Tastes like Kool-Aid, limited fat and carbs.... That has been my lifesaver in getting all my protein in. Recipes?? I do NOT cook Just ask my poor starving husband But I have been doing the following to take to lunch. I buy some frozen pre-cooked shrimp, and some mixed veggies. I heat up the veggies at work in the microwave, and place the thawed shrimp on top of it. I have that for lunch alot... YUMMY

I know the feeling about the old habits creeping in. I love shrimp....but I usually make something like Shrimp Loius or Shrimp Alfredo.

My demon is exercise. I just can not understand when people talk about looking forward to exercising. I HATE IT! I feel better afterwards but I still HATE IT. I average about 3 -4 days a week but know I could work harder and do more but I can find a million excuses not to do it. I don't mind the toning and weights but I hate cardio. Again, HATE IT! Every week I tell myself I am going to be a better person and still don't make it. My idea of cooking is making an open face cheese sandwich so I'm not much help with the receipe department but I can suggest wonderful protein entrees from most resturants in the Vininngs and Buckhead area. denise

As a pre-op, the thing I am most worried about right now is that my liver will be too big--I'm having surgery in four days and just read a post about that. In general, I'm worried that If I do have a complication, I won't realize it in time. That felt weird to type.

I saw in your profile you're using Dr Duncan. I have heard his practice is for his paitence to loos weight pre-op. This should help you with the fatty liver issue. I'm sure your Doctor will be able to know how to handle your procedure to the best of his ability. As long as you know the potential risks and complications you're already a step ahead of the game. You will be in my prayers as you transition through to the loosers side!!! Dee Dee

Oh, let me see...what am I worried about? I think just getting in enough of everything. I tried Derrick's chewable vitamins, and they are horrible. So, I think I need an alternative. Also, I feel like I'm getting a cold...sore throat, etc. So, I'm worried that I won't be over that and they will have to postpone. Which is not good at all, because we switch to new insurance September 1st. So, I'll have to start this all over again with this company. But,that isn't going to happen, right? I don't have a recipe. I'll see if I can come up with something...Derrick cooks more than I do. Derrick is my husband for those of you who don't know. Thanks, Dee Dee...It has been fun reading the posts.

DOUBLE UP on the vitamins if you're fighting a cold!!! (Even if they're yukkie - take them - and get some zinc into you!!! Coldeeze works greak for extra zinc!) Have Derrick post his recepie!!!!

Alright Dee Dee, Let's see....the hardest thing I have is the same as you....drinking enough fluids. I do find that if i drink more and eat more....(the right things) I lose more weight. I am stuck as of right now...for about a week, so we will see. I love the exercising although I am not into it quite as much as you guys. I go to Curves 4 to 5 times a week. I am not loosing quite as much LBS but the inches are melting away, so that is good for me. I still kind of cook the same things I have before for my family, and just eat very very small amounts of it. I have lost a total of 56 lbs since March which is not a lot, but since I am a light-weight, I am right on track with the other light-weights in my losing process. I am losing slowly..which I have heard is a good thing esp with skin issues and health wise. I would have to go back and see how much I have lost each month but so far so good. D'Lynn 232/176/130

loosing inches is better than loosing weight to me because it means you're turning the fat into muscle which is SO MUCH healthier for you!!!!! You're doing a fantastic job! Keep up the great work!
