Hi Shelly, I can remember being crazy for some mac-n-cheese I had made for my daughter. I had to leave the room, I was afraid I would snatch the bowl away from her! You will definately go through stages of being hungry and finding nothing taste the same to having to really remember to eat. I always measured everything. That way you just stop when the portion is done. Now I can tell when THE POUCH has had enough (10 weeks out) I remember being so confused Shelly, I still am sometimes Try and relax, take one day at a time and keep sipping your water to stay hydrated. Grits never sat good with me, I ate cream soups, minnestrone soup, baby food fruit, instant oatmeal (made runny with milk and with splenda). Yogurt(low carb) and 4 oz of milk throughout the day...good protein sources. I didn't mean to ramble... good luck sweetie. Barb

Shelly, I was never one of those "I have to force myself to eat" folks. I woke up from the surgery hungry! The hard part is craving foods you can't have. The secret is to remember that it's not forever. Someday you can have pizza again, or pasta, or whatever's driving you nuts! Good luck! Kelle

Shelly, sometimes I think that our pouch just likes to play tricks on us, maybe its not our pouch but definitely our minds. Try to keep yourself busy and get away from the foods that are not good for you, I had to go outside or take a hot bath or else I might make the mistake of nibbling on what I was cooking for others. I found that if I would just get in some fluids I wouldn't be hungry. You'll feel better and more normal really soon. Hany in there, Donna

Liquids and soft foods don't give you a full feeling. Believe me when you start eating dense protein like pork chop, chicken you will know you are full. Be very careful to eat slowly when you get to that stage, otherwise you will be in a lot of pain from over eating. I found 2 oz of dense protein to be over eating at that stage even though I'd been eating 4 oz of Cream of Wheat on the soft diet. The desire to eat and real hunger are two different things. Use this time wisely to get to know the difference. It is critical that you get honest with yourself about food during the early months when you won't feel true hunger. If you get honest now you will have formed new habits before the hunger comes back. Best of luck! Pat -200 lbs
