Have a question for the teachers...
Hello everyone! I've not been posting lately--busy, busy, busy around here. I started teaching 5th grade this past week-and WOW! What a week it's been. I have 29 kiddos--very energetic and bright kids. They have kept me busy! Here's my question: Do you all lose faster when you're working? I've dropped about 10 pounds this week-not sure if that's too much or not (I'm about 3.5 months out from surgery). I'm eating pretty well....taking my lunch, having a snack in the afternoons (usually nuts or fruit). I'm just wondering if it's all the hall walking I do-or the fact that I never sit down....what do you think? Anyone else who teaches lose better when teaching than in the summer???
Hugs to you all--
Michelle
I definitely do! In my case, I think it is the hall walking. Couldn't be the stress...lol I am hoping that I will break this long plateau since school has started back. Ten pounds is great. At your stage (3.5 months), I think it's AWESOME!!! If I finally lose ten more, I'll be at the 100 mark...at long last! Here's yet another benefit of teaching!
My class rocks...ten boys and ten girls...including one who is not potty trained, one who may need glasses cause he keeps wandering off, one who is highly allergic to nuts, and two who whine...but not as much since day one. Let us pray!!! I've already been popped on the behind once. Of course, my rear end WAS in his face. Guess who my favorite is...all of them?
29?!?!? Bless you!
Love,
Becky
Hi Becky! Sounds like you have some cutie pies in your room. Not pottie trained?! Oh my! Good luck with that one! LOL! I have some rooter-tooters in my group. Cute as can be, but oh--the things they think are funny to do (like swearing!!!). And we seem to have a problem with the "keep your hands to yourself" idea. Ah---Kids. Gotta love 'em!
Glad to hear you lose better when teaching, too. STRESS might be a factor for me this week--first week back and all. (especially after being home all these years.) I'm only 18 pounds away from 'onederland'--I can't wait!!! I'm currently in love with my scales-but we all know how quickly that can change. Love 'em one week, hate 'em the next!
Good luck with your crew! With 29 in the room I feel like I'm in charge of a platoon!!!!
Hugs!

Michelle, hey I am not a teacher but I saw that you are 3.5 months out of surgery & so am I, I was just wondering do you get in all your water & do you mind telling me on a good day some of the stuff you eat. I seem to be losing slow, well slower than I was 1 month post op & I walk 3 miles 5 nights a week & go to curves also. I am a aid on a special ed bus, so I work with special need children.
My sclaes just aren't moving that much these days, I think I am not eating enough. I have lost 69lbs. But finally under 200. Good luck to you.
Tammy Gunter
Hey Tammy!!
I think it sounds like you're doing GREAT! I'm down almost 60 pounds--so you're actually ahead of me on the loss stuff. I know I don't get enough water in-it's a constant struggle (especially with teaching during the day!) I usually eat a bowl of Ka****o Good Friends for breakfast. I put a piece of a bananna on it--or maybe some blueberries if I have them. I usually take a Lean Cuisine for lunch and try to eat a healthy dinner--something grilled (fish/chicken) and veggies for dinner. That's a good day. Some days I eat a lot less--grab a piece of fruit for breakfast, a half a sandwich for dinner and a bite of dinner inbetween my kids' activites. I'm trying to have fewer and fewer of those days, however.
Hope this helps--it needs improvement, but I'm working on it!
Hugs!

I'm going to have my surgery tomorrow morning... wish me luck and pray for me.... will you?...
