JUST A REMINDER... Very soon (less than 30 days now) cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...if you answer. To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888/382-1222 or go to (www.)donotcall.gov. (of course remove the parenthesis) It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. PASS THIS ON Meso

Would you believe, i got one on my cell phone at 8:15 AM? I didn't recognise the number but answered, anyhow, thinking it was one of my children using someone else's phone. Not! Thanks for the info. Barb in S. Ga

Thank you so much for this info. I really dislike telemarketers and I would hate it a lot more if I had to pay to listen to them. I will definitely "Pass This On". Cris

Check this out at an urban legends site. My favorite is snopes2.com. Ann in Duluth

Thanks for responding Ann, you are right, I was discussing this with Tooter on the main board last night. I will just copy and paste my response and the link to the thread. ****This is really funny, I went to the Snopes website and read this for myself. I am cracking up because actually the person that I got this info from is a Director of Wireless Communication @ Cingular, so you see why I'm laughing. I can't imagine that he wouldn't know what was in the works at his own company. He has a position where he should know first hand what he is talking about but I will be checking with him come tomorrow to see where his info comes from. Wouldn't it be something if he was misinformed about his own company? I wonder why the government would have a working website and phone number if it's just a hoax or waste of time? Oh well, go figure. I see the article was updated in April/May, I wonder has there been a change since then. I already put my number on the no-call list. Well, anyways, even the article said it won't hurt anything to sign up. Thanks for your input though.***** I am waiting to hear from my friend today, it will probably be after work. I also meant to add that a fair number of people are emailing me that they are already receiving these calls. Thanks. Meso

My understanding is that the national do not call list was started for REGULAR phone numbers, not cell phone numbers. However, as it states on snopes, it doesn't hurt. Maybe something has changed in the last couple of months. Let us know what your friend at Cingular says. Ann in Duluth

I don't know but I finally registered my home number and put my cell number there anyway. It should be against the law for a business to call you on your cell phone being that the receiver of the call has to pay for it. GRRRR!! Hugs, Tonya
