I have great News...

I have hurdled one apt. today, I had my medical consult with my PCP and he said he sees NO reason why BCBS wouldn't approve me, he also did my EKG that was required prior to surgery,and said it looked great, so basically 2 things hurdled. Oh and I've lost 4 of the 10 pounds required to lose, so I am Hugs, Melissa

Hi Melissa, My office manager called BCBS last week to see if WLS was covered and the CSP stated that BCBS is not covering any type of WLS. Please call BCBS and ask the CSP if WLS is covered and if the answer is yes, then request a certificate booklet so you can read it. The WLS journey is a emotional ride to take and then have the insurance company deny the surgery. Best wishes in getting your approval. Tammie G

Tammie, I called BCBS in may and again since then and they told me that the WLS is covered. They said that it is up to your employer whether you have the coverage or not and they said that Lowes is carrying the coverage til their renewal date of Jan.06 What type does she have HMO or POS? Mine is POS Melissa

Melissa, We have BCBS State Merit HMO and the coverage ended June 2005. I am glad your coverage ends January 2006 . Having WLS was the best gift that I could give to myself and my DH. I have gone from size 24 to a loose 14 in 6 1/2 months. Keep everyone posted on your journey to approval. Tammie G.

Yea I have a friend that has State Merit and hers was up June 2005, she had her surgery May 23rd. I did call BCBS this morning again to make sure and they are still telling me the same thing, that Lowe's covers it until there renewal date of Jan.2006. They still may carry it in Jan.06 but as of now they do cover it. Melissa
