champion patients

Hi all, I have been researching WLS for quite some time now. Was wondering if there are any recent Dr Champion patient out there? I will be a private payer as well. Any advice would be great! vicky

Hi Vicky, Dr Champion has a yahoo support group for his patients so I think most of his patients post there. Might not find any or many on OH. He's a great surgeon and was the first one recommended to me by my PCP and my Pulmonary doc. I went to a couple of his support group meetings and listened to a talk he did in Savannah and was quite impressed. By the time my insurance began covering wls and the wheels started moving here there was a Savannah surgeon doing the rny and I went with him. I've been very pleased but that is the only reason I didn't continue my plans with Dr. Champion. Why don't you call Dr. Champions office and see when the next information meeting will be or if you can access his yahoo support group? You will find very satisfied and grateful patients of his there. I've found Dr. C's office staff to be most helpful and friendly also. Best wishes to you in your journey. Sandy

I'm a Dr. Champion patient and couldn't be happier. He is wonderful and so gifted. Once you pay for your surgery you never have to pay another dime no matter what happens, that includes all follow up and after care for life. He has an after care program greater than anyone I've seen. Even supplies exercise classes with a certified personal trainer a couple of times a week for life. He has open support group meetings the 1st Saturday of each month and post-op only the last Thursday of each month. His office staff is there for you before and after surgery they are so helpful and never make you feel unimportant, they will answer every question. My surgery was flawless and I have had text book results. Not even the most minute complication, not even discomfort, I didn't even have soreness at all or gas after day 2 in hospital. Now, I realize this may not be everyone's experience I am just telling you mine. Dr. C is a matter of fact no nonsense but very pleasant man. Gives you bare bones facts and expects you to follow his protocol. He is very compassionate and will answer any question that you have. He is present at his own support group meetings and participates on his website chats, answering questions. He has done well over 2000 rny's. He has written medical journals on wls and is well respected and reknown all over the country for his expertise. I could go on and on but you get the jist. Oh yeah, did I say I love the man? I will say the money we paid out of pocket was definitely the best 4100.00 we have ever spent. I would do it again without hesitation. Meso
