Has anyone here heard of how well the surgens here are? I notice most of you are from further North. Any info at all would be appreciated. I know of only 2 people personally that have had it done, and both love the results. I am also concerned about the pre-op time period and what to eat. I am only doing Sugar Buster for 2 weeks then surgery...is this "normal"? Thanks in advance Jenn

Jenn, I am a native of Albany and now live in Dawson. As far as I know, no one in Albany does wls, except Bagnato, who only does the lapband. I have never heard anything bad about him. I have used Price Corr for gallbladder surgery, and think very highly of him. If you want to call me at 995-5139, or email me privately, [email protected], I will be glad to let you know about other surgeons. I am having my surgery done by Dr. Scarborough in Atlanta. Has your doctor asked you to do this "Sugar Buster" thing? Have you had your nutritional counseling? Do you have a support group lined up? This isn't a matter of "boom, surgery is over, all is well". Aftercare and diet are vitally important to your success. Barb in S. GA

That is who my dr. is...Bagnato and their will be another dr. with him during the procedure. I totally know that it isn't a magic pill and feel that I have no unrealistic goals going into this. It will take work on my part and I have a great supportive family and actually like going to the gym believe it or not. The Sugar Buster is new with this practice..within the last year..they were finding too many times they would get into the procedure and there would be too much fat around the liver, so this is there way at attempting to cut down on getting started and having to not complete the surgery due to risks involved with the fat/liver. I have just read so many conflicting messages on these boards. Can I ask why you are going to Atlanta instead of locally? Thanks! Jenn

Hello: If you get a chance to go to Albany before the surgery and have your last fling, try the Cookie Shop on Jackson in downtown Albany. My sister owns the shop and they have great food from 7:30 am till 3:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. Good luck on your wls journey and as they say enjoy the ride. Mary

I have heard he is good with the lapband. I had the bypass done at Emory in Atlanta. When I looked into the lapband I was going to use Dr.Bagnito but my insurance would not cover lapband so I opted for the full thing. I am in Sylvester. I am also looking into starting a support group around here. There are currently none for weight loss surgery. If you two would be interested please let me know. Thanks and good luck !!! Tracy
