Hubby getting laid off

Hey everyone, I'm very upset...my husband is getting laid off on August 19th and we are terrified . We are trying to sell our house, but if it doesn't sell by then, we don't know how we will make the payments. He is working 50-60 hours a week just so we can squeak by now & I work 2 jobs & go to school. He does data entry, but most of the places that need data entry/administrative people don't pay enough for it to be a help. He's been at this place 9 years...oh, yeah...and they are denying him his severence pay based on a technicality. Oh what drama...any suggestions? We live close to Gainesville Amanda 266/185/147

Oh Amanda, I'm so sorry to hear that! I know he does data entry, but what industry is he in? I'm in insurance, and I know a couple of insurance head hunters...

HOLY SMOKES!! (Har har har!!) Being an insurance underwriter, seeing someone that works for an explosives distributor makes me CHOKE on the coffee I just poured! LOL! We always joke about how we are going to write the fire insurance for a dynamite factory ha ha ha ha!! (Really sick insurance humor!) I know... I shouldn't be joking with you right now... What area of town does he work in? How far is he willing to commute? I will try to get together as many head hunter names I can think of...I'll even..(GASP) check with my ex husband, because I know he used to do that sort of stuff...

I always tell him that he has an explosive personality! We live 9 miles north outside Gainesville in Lula. Right now, his commute is over 30 minutes (to Homer) and he would like to get closer to home. He had a wild hair and is having me put in his application with the fire department, because he heard they were hiring, so we will see.... He'd like to lower his comute to 20 miles or less, but we know the real opportunity is more down your way. Amanda 266/185/147

Sorry to hear that, Amanda....we've been through that twice.... it's very hard... and not just financially but psychologiclally...one thing I know....it WILL end-up being ALLRIGHT at the end...I'm sure that he will find another job...that may be even better than the one that he has now...(that what happened to my HB)...I don't if I could be of help but I'll ask around...the Best of luck to your family, Rita
