Does this happen to anyone else? I can't get my water in and does not matter the size of the sip.

Hi Caren, As you know it is very important to stay hydrated at this stage. I had to work very hard at it because I had a realllll hard time with water too. I diluted juicy juice, like 1 oz juice to 3 oz water. I put it on ice and sipped (tiny sips) through a straw. SF popsicles probably saved me because you can take small bites and just let them melt in your mouth. That helped alot. Also the broth you are eating counts as liquid too. Jello too but I could not eat it. Oh, and ice chips, you can let them melt in your mouth too. Watch for signs of dehydration... low grade fever and chapped lips were signs for me. I'm remembering you in my prayers, I wish you comfort at this stage Love, Barb Just write me if theres anything you need.

Caren, I think you should call your surgeon about this. I have no medical knowlege or training at all, so this is just my uneducated opinion. I have seen several people who have had trouble drinking water and after contacting their surgeons discovered they had strictures. I each case it was easily corrected without surgery by expanding a balloon in the stricture to stretch it. Strictures can develop at any time after any abdominal surgery not just WLS. Even if it is nothing, you should talk to your surgeon just in case. If it is something, it can probably be easily corrected. Please keep us posted. Best Wishes, Curtis Green

Call your doctor quickly. I got dehydrated and cannot tell you how sick I was. I had to spend a day in ER getting fluids. You MUST get that fluid down. I have trouble with it and sit with a glass of water ALL DAY. I measure out my ounces in a jug and stare at it all day till it is gone. I feel so much better and never ever want to feel the way I felt the day of the ER. My dietician lets me have V-8 Splash (sugar free) and I love it. Sugar free popsicles are yummy also. I also drink chicken and beef boullion which counts as a fluid. It has lots of salt and I am afraid it may make me retain water (and weight, lol) so I dont drink much of it. It is so good to me now though. If your pouch hurts with water please call your doctor. Hugs and Prayers Pati
