Out of Pocket $$$$$$$$$

Anyone pay out of pocket for their surgery? My insurance will not cover the surgery. State Health has an exclusion on all of their policies for WLS. I am thinking of using Dr. Champion. Did any pay for their surgery? Did you finance it? How does that work? Thanks so much for any help!

Hello Mandy, I also used Dr. Champion and self-paid. The amount is listed on his website but I think it was around $22,500. I took the money out of my 401K because I figured without the surgery I probably wouldn't live long enough to collect the money. I have heard that the office can put you in touch with someone about financing. Hope this helps denise

Dr. Champion is a wonderful choice. his complication rate is almost non-existant.. more than any other surgeron in Atlanta can say. his bedside manner isnt the best.. he's kinda of strict and brute, but he is excellent in what he does.

I'm a teacher and have state health as well. I ended up using Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. He is a professor of lap surgery and is affilliated with a hospital in Miami. The cost for me was $16,000. but the current rate is $12,000. If you're interested do a search for his name.
