New PCP needed...

OK, here is my problem. Last year I started the process WLS in brunswick. I had already got my psych. eval., seen the nut., been to the support group meetings and had gotten my letter of necessity (sp) from my PCP. I lived in South GA at the time. My husband was promoted at work and we had to move so I put off the surgery for a year. I got a new PCP when we moved. When I was ready again, I went back to Dr. Henderson and they sent in all my paperwork, including the the letter from my doctor in St Marys. I was approved and am having surgery Oct. 22nd. Well, I made an appointment with my  new PCP here to tell her about the surgery and see if she would do the bloodwork here so I would not have to travel to brunswick everytime. Dr. Henderson had said that this would be fine. I went to see her today  and she was ANGRY when she found out I was having the surgery. She does not like the surgery. She said that she has had bad experiences with it. She tried to scare me out of having it by telling me that the only person that she referred for WLS had died and that she had only had 50 lb to lose. She then told me every possible complication, which I already knew. When that did not work she tried to talk me out of having the surgery. When I still would not budge she released me as her patient and told me to tell her where to send my records! Does anybody in the Macon area have or know of a good PCP that supports and is knowledgeable (sp) about WLS? All help is appreciated!

Rhonda,   My current pcp is very wls friendly, and has been drawing my labs and faxing them to my surgeon in Washington state for the past 3, almost 4 years. However, last time I checked with her, she wasn't taking any new patients, but you can check if you like..I will send you her info in a private email..  Take care
peachy hugs,
