Asia, congratulations again on your approval.  If I were you I would probably schedule your surgery for early in July so you can get the moving done with.  It will be a lot less stress on you.  If you can schedule the date soon then your mom can also schedule the Disney trip so she can be here with you when you need her most.  Then also you would be starting a whole new life in a whole new home.  You wouldn't have had any "food memories" in your new home.  Good luck either way.  I am sure that either way would work out somehow.  Keep us posted.

Pat  Thanks so much for your input.  I am leaning towards July as well.  My son will be in Ny with my mom until she brings him home in time for football with South Gwinnett.  So she will not be able to be here but she is doing alot for my son and will be taking him to Disney then back to NYC with her.   I am going for my pre op directions tomorrow so I should have more info by then.  But it seems like I loose one worry and exchange it for another in this process.

I agree with the last poster who said wait until July until you get your move in.  So you have a nice new home to come home too.  Have you been seeing Dr. Hart or Dr. Johnson for your pre-op appointments?  I had my lap rny done by Dr. Hart on April 17 and recovery was a breeze.  I was up going shopping on the way home from the hospital.  I had very little pain after I got out of the hospital.  While in the hospital I had so-so pain but nothing major.  I could have went back to work the following week.  Congratulations on being approved.  Best of luck on which ever route you take....

I believe that I will wait until July when Dr Hart's thumb heals.  They say he will be doing surgeries after the 4th.  So I will wait to then. I have been seeing Dr Hart and will wait for him instead of switching mid process.  Thanks for all the responses and well wishes.

Asia, I agree wait til after your move... It is way too stressful and you do not need that right after your surgery and that way Dr hart can do your surgery as planned! I also had the Lap proceedure in Jan and was only down for a week or so. The cutting you Open proceedure is referred to as Open where they cut you with a vertical cut from just under your breastbone and it is at least a 6 inch long or more incision.  They do refer to the Laproscopy as the Lap proceedure where they make several up to 7 very small incisions for a camera, scalpel, staplegun type tool, ect.. plus a drain tube. I had 7 only because I had 2 extra since they had to remove my gallbladder abd a huge gallstone. Some people only have 5 incisions, but this is the most common type done currently and least invasive and quicker recovery. They are working on a method using a robot of which my Dr got to perform on a pig in a test surgery at the Emory school of medicine when he was chosen to be the gastric bypass Dr testing the new Robot. He said it was interesting, but this would not be done for a long while. Good luck - see you on the other side! Jill L. GA LapRNY 1/24/2007 117 lost

Thank u everyone for your input..I still am in limbo about the entire situation.  But will keep u all up to date. Trishalla - I think you need to research that info you have about the different procedures and the way they are performed.  The laproscopic is the 5-7 incisions and the open is the 1 cut mid section.   Hope this helps.
