I was approved for my Lap RNY.  Got my letter today.  Well now the date is my next problem.  I am closing on my new home in June btwn the 16th and the 22nd.  Also my doctor broke his thumb and will not be doing surgeries until July.  But I can have the other doctor do it if I want it done in June.  Now the problem is with all that I dont know if I should wait or just have it done in June.  My mom lives in Ny and wants to be here but has her own stuff going on. Like my son will be with her and she is taking him to Disney.  I am just so confused, I have waited for this so long. My DBF(devoted boyfriend) is here with me.  But I didnt want to leave all the moving to him I wanted to help.  PLEASE HELP!!!!

I'm not really sure but if you were approved I would call the insurance company. But if Dr. Hart is the one that filed it for you I do not think you can change Dr's . I would call around and see! Best of luck on your journey. Hug's  Jeannie  OH SUPPORT LEADER

Hi... No matter who gets the approval for your surgery you can change docs at anytime. The approval is not for the doctor, its for the procedure. If you aren't going to use Dr. Hart because he broke his thumb, I would personally recommend Dr. John Daly. He is the absolute best! If I can be of any other help just let me know. Blessings for your journey....  Crece

Hi Asia, Very few doctors are now doing the Lap RNY, because as Dr. Duncan explained at his seminar, it is really working in the blind..The New Orthoscopic procedure is inserting 3 or 4 tiny rods, while you are asleep, and one is a tiny camera that puts your insides on a screen, then the RNY is done that way.I had my Gallbladder takin out that way years ago, and it is much easier then being opened up, as I had that for a hysterectomy... You can go back to work with the ortho RNY as early as 5-10 days as long you are doing any lifting and mostley sitting job... I am not sure about your insurance, but call his office Dr. Titus Duncan in Atl. and they can tell you if they take it..He is approved by medicare , which I have, and has done over 6000 of these type of operations..Very importan****ch Fox and friends on Thursday mornings and he is the guest doctor every Thursday... By the way is that HMO or ppo...I think with the PPO it pays 90% and you need to pay the copay before the surgery.. Trisha

Hi Asia, No , a lap is short for laparotomy. That is the procedure of cutting you open to get to the organs the doctors want to work on, or explore....So I would really double check with your doctor..It is probably just missed communication, and hopefully is doing the ortho RNY.. Trisha

No actually He did tell me I was going to have 5-6  small holes and they would get threw that way.  Open RNY is when they cut you.. Thats just my understanding..
