After my trip to the ER, two days later I was admitted to the hospital and just got out yesterday. I have had this problem with what my Dr. kept calling insect bites becoming infected. I finally had a Dr. at the hospital who decided to run tests and find out what's going on with me. Especially since this was the 5th time since May alone. I found out I have a disease called MRSA. From what little info I have, it's basically a very powerful staph and normal anitbiotics won't help it. I was on a powerful one called vancomicin, thorugh IV while I was in the hospital and now I have to take Zyvox while I'm home. A $100 a pill! Thankfully my insurance covered part of it I don't have a spare $2000 for medicine! If ANYONE knows anything about MRSA and can help me learn about this, PLEASE contact me! My husband is now worried about me wanting to have WLS because of this. Thanks! Kim

Kim, My mom had lap band done in May and ended up with a C-diff infection in her intestines. While in the hospital she contracted MRSA in her nasal passages. However the infectious disease doctor did tell her that it was a common problem. She also had to be on vacomicin for two months for both infections and that is the only antibiotic she can have. The doctor told her that once you had MRSA and even if it's cleared up the hospital will always treat you as if you still have it. Karee
