Hi ya'll

I know that someone asked this question a few weeks ago but I cannot seem to have the patience to look back that far. What  can be done for  the pain in my side that I occasionally get when I am running? I remember something about the changing my breathing but thats prolly wrong. Also sometimes( usually when I am running on a track) my shoulders start to  hurt, any idea why and how to prevent this? Thanks in advance.

The latest research has it pinned as a stretching of the ligaments around the liver when you run in a particular rhythm.  I have found that it works well to exhale all your air every two or three breaths when you feel it comming on.  That way, you get new air in your lungs and it disrupts the rhythm that causes the stretching.  The article that I read says to stop and walk while pressing under your ribs.  After a bit, resume running.

Most people breathe in tune with their running steps.  In for two steps and out for two or in for three and out for three.  Another thing that I do when I feel the stich comming on is to breathe in for two steps and in for three steps.  According to the article, this also disrupts the rhythm that causes the pain.
No idea about the shoulder.

The shoulder pain is likely a form or neck problem.  You might check with a physical therapist and have them check out your form and give you some feedback.  I occasionally have problems during triathlons running after being on the bike, which is also a form problem - only on the bike.
