5k prep

I am preparing for my first 5k over Memorial Day weekend.  In all honesty, I have no idea what I am doing!  I just know that I want to fini****time does not matter.

I am working out 7 days a week-one of those days with a trainer.  I do cardio 7 days a week --treadmill/intervals and lift weights one day a week.  There is no gym within a 30 mile radius so I have to be creative--and I lift weights at the trainer's house.

Any suggestions on how I can best prepare for the 5k?  TIA

Just keep running, running, running,

Actually a lot of people here used the couch25k program
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
or
http://www.c25k.com/
It starts off slow, so if you are already beyond what it starts at, just begin where you feel like you fall into the plan.

I still use it today, but I have increased the speed at which I run it.  It has been a very good tool.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Thanks!  I just found that program through google--gonna check it out!

I used to be in the military and would run 5 days a week, 5-6 miles a day.  Although I could run the distance, I sucked on the time.  Now I just want to finish the race!

C25K is awesome i did the program preop and lost 30 lbs!  Its great. I'm back on the program now.

You will finish way before you think you will, even if you walk/run! Best of luck to you!!!
