I signed up for the Wicked Half Marathon on 9/25 in Salem, MA!!

I think my run today must have totally gone to my head and made me believe that if I can run three miles non-stop then there is no reason I can't run 13.1...is this how it all starts, the running obsession??

Cool, Katie!

I didn't get the obsession going until much later.  In fact, when I finished my 5k program, I still didn't run 3 miles straight until a few weeks later when I finally got the guts to try it.  Then again, after I finished my first 10k 2 months later, I up and decided I could do a half in just 3 months!

It's all good.  I never thought I would be able to run distances, but now it's my first love.

Welcome to the club Katie!  And yeah it seems so small and simple at the start and the next thing you know you're doing half and full marathons and then who knows, maybe a triathlon or 2.  You'll do great and you should have a blast doing it.  Races are really a lot of fun!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the obsessed runners on this forum.  You have plenty of time to get your training in although I would suggest that you try and get a 10k and 10 miler between now and September.  Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for your motivation & good thoughts guys!

I'm planning on doing a handful of 5k's and shorter races prior to the Wicked 1/2.  I haven't signed up for any other races yet, but I'm planning on signing up for a 4 miler in the middle of March and there is the Greater Hartford 1/4 Marathon (6.55m) that I'm pretty sure I'm siging up for...and I'm confident I'll be able to do it.  It's at the beginning of April so I'm hoping I'll be able to get my mileage up in time for that. Does that seem realistic or am I kidding myself?

That's great Katie; good for you. Like you, I am relatively new to the running obsession. I have my running goals for 2010 set as such: 10k in May, and a half in October.  Love the feeling when crossing the finish line.
