When did you start seeing results

Today will be a week that I joined a gym and went six out of seven days.  I plan on keep that up until I make it to a maintence weight.  Then I go the gym three or four days a week. Anyway how long did it take you to start seeing results from intense workouts.  I do ninety minutes of cardio and thirty minutes  of weights daily.   I mix my routine up so my body does not get use to the same thing.  I have been exercising over a year at home.  So my body is definitely use to moving just not in so many directions.  How long did it take you to workout in the gym before you saw results inches, lbs, etc. Thanks for your time.

Congrats on your efforts in the gym. I will speak from personal experience. I had to change my thoughts on why  I was going to the gym because my goal (pre-wls) was always to see a difference on the scale or my body shape. Those goals never worked for me because I always wanted the scale to move faster or my body to change sooner than I had the patience.  I knew I had to change my mindset after wls. Now, I go to the gym and my goal is to make it fun, work on making it a life long habit, and to become healthy. The weight and body changes will follow. I can honestly say...this was my turning point to my success. I now go to the gym and enjoy my time there because it's my time and it is a huge stress reliever. Don't get me wrong....I love that the scale reads  a number I can be proud of and my body has changed big time, but I know with me, the weight and body shape can never be my number one goal. It sets me up for failure.

I've read that you should see a difference in 6 weeks. I suggest (my 2 cents) trying not to live up to others standards or compare yourself though. Do this for a new and healthy life for yourself!
Best wishes!!!

It takes 3-6 weeks typically. Coincidentally, it is about 1 week longer than the time most people throw in the towel...

Hi,

Glad you are going to the gym.  I echo what bandhope said.  I now work out and enjoy it instead of making it a chore.  I mix things up.  Sometimes I run on the treadmill, take a class (zumba, cycling, Functional Cuts, etc.).  I also think of it as a stress reliever.  It's part of my lifestyle now.

Once I started running, I saw results in terms of how toned my legs got, my waist, and my arms, within about a month. I definitely knew something was happening--I was SORE after just 30 minutes of walking/running at first! I lost the last 22 pounds from adding running to my regime. I also religiously track my food intake and drink my water and take my supplements!

The main thing is to find activities you like to do, and keep on challenging yourself. After 6 weeks of walking/running, I could actually run for 2 miles without stopping. So I started to run about 6 miles a week. Then it was 8, then 10, and on and on--last week I ran more than 32 miles.  I feel great, I'm almost into a size 2 where I used to be a 26, and I know that I am in control of my body.

Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and to improve and maintain your health and fitness. I LOVE that it is part of my lifestyle, and you should be proud you've made such great strides yourself! Kudos!

I workout 3 to 4 times a week.  I take classes, from Zumba, funk aerobics and boot camp.  I saw results within 4 to 6 weeks.  I took my measurement and I lost 19 inches overall in 6 weeks.

Take you measurement and enjoy your workouts.
